At a glance
The landmark statue
The source describes a roughly 60-hectare cultural park dominated by the enormous Garuda Wisnu Kencana monument. Vishnu riding Garuda is the central image, giving the park its name. The statue and surrounding plazas provide a very different experience from Bali’s smaller village temples.
Performances and open-air spaces
Traditional Balinese dance, barong performances and musicians feature in the original visit. Programmes are scheduled by time, so check the day’s programme rather than assuming every performance runs continuously. The outdoor amphitheatre can feel hot around midday; allow time for breaks between the performance areas and monument viewpoints.
